      What is the Email Hippo WHOIS service?

      This article discusses what the WHOIS service does and what it can record.

      The Email Hippo WHOIS service allows you to gather information about a domain name.

      When you enter a domain name into the Email Hippo WHOIS search bar or API, data from the WHOIS record is returned.

      WHOIS records can contain information about:

      • the registrar
      • the domain's name server
      • the dates of registration
      • the dates of expiration
      • the last update of the domain record.
      The WHOIS record may also contain contact information about the owner of the domain.

      This information is not always available due to privacy service’s (eg: whois guard) and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
